Singing Teacher and Vocal Coach

Mark is an experienced vocal coach and singing teacher who has worked with singers of all abilities across the UK, Europe and the USA. From complete beginners taking their first steps in singing to gold record-selling artists, Mark has helped vocalists develop confidence, technique and performance skills in a supportive and practical environment.
Trained in contemporary vocal teaching, Mark holds a Diploma in Teaching Contemporary Singing from Voice College. During his studies, he was nominated for the prestigious PJ Proby Student of the Year Award, recognising outstanding achievement and dedication throughout the programme. Mark completed the course with an Upper Merit, earning the college’s official seal of approval.
While Mark’s greatest stage experience lies in musical theatre — and this remains a particular passion in his teaching — he works confidently across all contemporary vocal styles, tailoring lessons to suit each singer’s goals, abilities and musical interests.
A strong advocate of healthy vocal technique, Mark focuses on safe, sustainable singing that helps minimise strain and unnecessary tension. His teaching prioritises vocal health, helping singers build strength, confidence and consistency while reducing the risk of injury. With extensive experience diagnosing and addressing vocal challenges, Mark uses targeted exercises and practical techniques to help students overcome technical barriers and unlock their full vocal potential.
The ABCs of Singing
At the heart of Mark’s teaching is a simple yet highly effective framework he calls the ABCs of Singing — a step-by-step approach designed to help students understand not only what they are doing with their voice, but why.
The three core foundations are:
A – Alignment (Posture)
Building a strong, balanced posture to support healthy singing.
B – Breath
Developing breath control and support for greater consistency and vocal freedom.
C – Creating Sound (Singing)
Learning how to produce sound safely, efficiently and confidently.
The ABCs method is based on a simple principle: progress happens step by step. Just as no child starts reading with complex novels, singers benefit from building strong foundations before advancing to more demanding techniques. By developing these essentials first, students are able to sing with greater confidence, control and vocal freedom — regardless of their starting point.
As Mark explains:
“Your voice is a bit like someone training for a race — progress comes from consistency, patience and building the right foundations. You may not become an elite athlete overnight, but by training correctly, you’ll achieve far more than if you never started.”
In 2017, Mark’s expertise and experience as a vocal coach were recognised when he was invited to be a judge on BBC One’s prime-time entertainment show All Together Now, appearing alongside well-known names including Geri Horner and Rob Beckett. He was also the lead vocal coach for Evolved Artists and master vocal coach for riverside studio
Alongside private one-to-one tuition, Mark also runs group workshops and leads ROK!T, an adult choir dedicated to making singing accessible, enjoyable and inclusive for everyone.
